evaluation

The masthead of my magazine cover is a bold edgy font which dominates the page this draws the reader to the top of the page, the font reminds me of an ink print which is rough and looks hand rendered and as you read the mast head it draws you to the logo and makes the reader immediately recognise what college this magazine is about. The main image is a medium close up of a student the image is clear and easy to see the person is focused at the audience and fits into the background. The colour scheme suits the college because it uses the same colour that the college uses for its logo in the text and framing of the images, this shows that there is a running house style throughout the magazine which establishes brand identity for the magazine. The layout of the magazine is very typical of a magazine having the masthead at the top, the main image at the centre of the page; this makes the magazine more conventional. The thumbnail images on the contents page and the front cover represent over articles clearly and don’t overcrowd the page and have useful captions below or to near them to let the reader know what page they can find the article this image relates to. The price of this magazine is free because the students should be able to know what is happening in the college and students have a restricted amount of money they can spend on certain things. I included a bar code on this magazine because it makes it look real and authentic although it doesn’t have a price. The teasing contents along the bottom of the page let the reader know a little bit about what’s inside the magazine before they buy it and they help to understand the images on the front cover and contents page. I added a competition to the contents page because it makes the readers even more inclined to buy the magazine because they could win something for free. There is no free gift with this magazine because it seemed a bit unconventional to do this as other magazines I looked at did not. The main image I put on the front cover does relate to the main article. I used synergy in this magazine to promote the college, the college magazine itself and the college website. The institution I am producing this magazine for is Wyke College because I attend this college and it was more appropriate to produce something for my own college. My magazine mainly focuses on helping the students through college and what they can do to keep on top of their work. I want this magazine to convey the message that this college is a great place learn and attend because that will express a good feeling towards the college and might have more people applying here. The target audience of this magazine is ages between 15 and 25 because these is the prime age’s people start applying to college or attend college and this figure makes the magazine more user friendly, however the parents of the students may read this magazine to see if they find this college suitable for their children to attend. The socio-economic group of this magazine  is DE because may target audience aren’t fully skilled yet. I think I have represented the college and the students of this college well because all the images make the college look like a good learning environment but also a good social place for students to spend their time in. I also think I have represented the college accurately because all the images used are of the college and this shows the readers what the college has to offer.
